Hi Everyone,

I've looked everyone for an answer to this and i can't find anything yet, although it seems like a common situation people would fall into.

This is my situation: My Post Graduate Work Permit is going to expire in a few weeks, I applied for PR 4 months ago and I haven't received the AOR/File number yet.

It is my understanding that if i had the AOR i would simply apply for a bridging work permit, but i don't have an AOR right now.

My understanding at this point is that I should apply for a closed work permit through my employer. i answered the questionnaire online and started the work permit application and was asked to provide documents and apply. I can get the documents and apply but i keep hearing about this "employer portal/compliance fee" but it's always mentionned in the context of bringing a worker from outside of Canada and I wonder if it applies to me too.

Can you please advise if this applies to my situation and how i should go about this?

Thank you in advance!

In order to extend your PGWP to a closed work permit, you need a Work Permit Support Letter. To receive yours, contact your PNP program [1] and they will give your employer [2] instructions to pay the $230 compliance fee via the IRCC employer portal [3]. If I am mistaken, you will get a code of LMIA exemption because of your PNP nomination. Fill that code in your application [4] of extending your work permit.

1. Suggest you contact PNP ASAP because you are a bit running out of time, but it's not too late. PNP will probably speed up the process for you.
2. Share your situation with your HR. S/he should understand it and had such an experience of paying the fee before.
3. Your HR should know this thing.

That’s absolutely correct. If you have Aor then you can apply bridging open work permit. I think ask employer to pay compliance fees and then wait for few days more for AOR as right now March applicants are getting it . If u didn’t get it apply work permit right away then.
