PGWP expiry due to expiration of passport

I applied for a work permit this summer after graduating but the work permit was only provided till April 2018 which is the date of my passport expiry. As a graduate student I am entitled to a 3 year PGWP. How do I apply for an extension of the work permit?

Be aware the processing time can be around 3 months so best renew you passport as soon as you can if not already then apply.
