PGWP ELIGIBILITY

hi, I am a bit concerned about my pgwp. While i was at University i was unregistered for a term and had to go back to my home country due to some family emergency. The term started at January, and i was registered till 19th of Jan and then dropped my courses after that. i was till working at that time and continued to work till feb 15th. i then left canada to visit my home country on the 20th feb. MY February's pay cheque was given to me as a cheque from my employer. Now I have changed my institution and starting a new program. i will apply for my pgwp via my new institution. My concern is will there be a problem while applying for my pgwp since i worked during that time? what steps should i take? please guide me. thank u

So you are starting over with a new program and then apply for PGWP. You notified IRCC that you changed programs, and are back in Canada studying. You worked for a month when you should not have because you were no longer a student.

You will not know until you get a final response on your PGWP. Can working for that month factor in? Yes. Nothing you can do about it.

I worked that month when I was a student at the old institution( I was working because I was unsure if I would drop my courses because it was sudden plan due my family emergency).Now at the new institution I followed all the rules carefully and I will be applying for pgwp from here. So my question is as I am not applying pgwp from my old institution will that one month work still be an issue?

Yes it could be. You will not know until PGWP is approved. You dropped your courses on January 19 and continued to work for a month until mid-February.

Even if it doesn’t come up during PGWP, it could still bite you during PR process( if you pursue for PR). Not much you can do. Generally international students study for 20 hours and work for 20 hours. Once you opt out of study, you are not eligible for work either. It is going to be hard for any third party to digest the emergency excuse that make you drop from studies but not from work.
