PGWP Duration - Passport Expiry

Hello all,

I have an Indian Passport valid until June 2020. I will be doing a two year course starting Jan 2017, which finishes by the end of 2018. I read that PGWP is for 3 years if one has done 2 years of study.

What will happen in my case ? Will I get a full three year or only until the passport expiry (only 1.5 years)?
Do you think it is better to renew my passport before applying for a study permit or rather renew it at the Indian Embassy in Canada during the first year of my study?

You cannot review your passport until only 1 year of validity is left on it.

So you'll get your PGWP for the validity of the passport

Renew your passport in Canada and apply to extend your PGWP to its full validity
