Hello
I have received PGP ITA finally after about 10 years so many years. In this year’s return I filed taxes as non resident as an opportunity popped up just across the border and I temporarily moved for job.
Long term plan has always been to come back to canada after saving some money.
I do have a food business in canada and home. I plan on expanding my business after moving back.
Could I please get some insights from experienced people in this group on how I can proceed in this case. I am a canadian citizen
Thankyou in advance for your inputs

You don’t qualify and when you considered moving your inability to qualify for PGP should have been a consideration if it was a priority.

As mentioned, you don’t qualify

And jobs in the USA don’t just pop up . One actively looks for them as its extremely difficult for American employers to hire foreigners ( unless you are already an American)

But that’s all irrelevant. You have to live in Canada

Not only live but have lived in Canada during the 3 years before being selected and while application is being processed earning Canadian income. Technically you should have been living in Canada since 2018 to have qualified to be in EOI2020 and maintained your Canadian residency and met LICO since then to qualify to PGP. You haven’t waited 10 years for PGP if you left Canada. What is crazy is that taxpayers will likely have to spend money processing this application which should/will be denied versus refusing the application right away for not being a Canadian resident in at a minimum 2024 and at least over 6 months of 2025. One of the reasons draws are so huge but result in almost half of applications being rejected. Such a waste of money.
