Hi friends
Does anyone know is it Mandatory to do the Medical for non accompanying parent ? He got a request to complete medical.
My mom is the principal applicant. Only she got the biometric request . 2 days after the biometric for mom, both dad and mom got the request to do medical. My dad is listed as dependent family member and non accompanying. He is 73 and a dialysis patient. He can't travel to the medical exam destination. He will not come to Canada either. How do I proceed in this situation.
Some google search says no accompanying person has to do medical anyway. Anybody had a similar experience and know anything about this situation. Please advise me
Thank you.

Even if not accompanying, he must take and pass the medical for your mother to get PR. It is mandatory for him to take it or the application will be refused for your parents.

Yes he has to do the medical and unfortunately severe kidney disease is one of the top reasons for refusal based on excessive medical costs. Just dialysis is 60k+ a yr and I assume they have more health issues or medications than just dialysis. Spouses are always considered together because of not they could then apply spousal sponsorship that doesn’t have an excessive medical cost requirement. Also prevents the healthy parent from abandoning any sick or disabled dependent in their home country.

I would recommend that you start researching PFLs (procedural fairness letters), excessive demand, and medical inadmissibility.

Others here are correct. It is mandatory for your father to complete the medical. It is also mandatory for your father to pass the medical in order for your mother's PR to be approved. Since your father is on dialysis, he will unfortunately fall in the category of excessive demand and medical inadmissibility. Once your father completes the medical, it's possible IRCC may ask for additional test (which he will have to complete). You should expect that at some point in the process you will receive a PFL from IRCC indicating that they plan to refused the application due to excessive demand / medical inadmissibility. Again, suggest you start researching this now so that you aren't suprised by what happens next.
