Hi Everyone,
I am a Working professional and I am in pursuit in choosing between MS and PG Diplomo. My Profile is.

IELTS- 6.0-6.5(expected-will receive scores in 10 days)
GRE - 303(1130-old)

Studies - 4 years Btech-60%-7 backlogs,10th-76%,Inter-81%
Work Exp - 2 Years(Software QA)

My way of thinking:

I wanted to pursue masters in the priority case and as many members told me that MS is impossible for my profile and suggested me for PG Diploma. I am thinking of earning money as early as possible. So If I am going for PG diploma
1. what is the course should I take- Work-study programs?.....
2. what tenure should I take?(Lower tenure means more visa acceptance probability-lesser duration to find job)
3. Is finding job with 2yrs exp and a 1 yr PG diploma risky and I might get back to india without getting a job in the worst case?
4. Is there a chance for me to do the MS? without PG diploma?

I would be waiting for your precious answers and I am positive in taking any feedback given by you people.
Thanks for your support..... :) ;)

Hi,

4. Most Universities MS programmes require atleast 70% in your 4 years B.Tech/B.E. Some may accept a first class degree like the University of Regina. You need to visit all individual recognized university websites, and search for an appropriate MS programme in your area of study/work experience. Once you have found the, start contacting individual dept. heads, and ask..if that may accept your applications for MS or not.
Here's the list of recognized Universities and colleges, for OCWP & PGWP, listed province wise:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/institutions/participants.asp

If , in case you see, despite your personal efforts you are most likely not be admitted to MS, then think of a 2 years PG diploma/PG certificate programme in your area of study/work experience. Even though it won't be as widely recognized or valuable as a good/public University MS.. atleast it will make you eligible for a 3 years PGWP. But the success of an individual is NOT guaranteed with a University MS but on individual's skill set, talent, willingness to work hard, networking skills and of course a bit of luck. Again, go through that list...and search for an appropriate PG certf./diploma programme.

1. If you are not being accepted to any MS programme in University, go for a PG certificate/diploma programme with a co-op/internship option.

2. You obviously have been misinformed on this point. There is NO such thing as lower tenure means more visa acceptance possibility!! It's absolutely absurd and a ridiculous theory! Visa applications are accepted or rejected entirely based on your profile (Academic marks, work experience,IELTS etc.), proper course selection matching your profile and strong financials (proper education loan etc.). The more your visa application indicates, that you are a bona fide student...the more your chances are for getting the visa.

Yes, in most cases, if you take a course of less than 2 years, you will be eligible only for PGWP, exactly equal to the duration of your course. It's reccomended you do a course of 2 academic years/4 semesters/16 actual months of study to be eligible for a 3 years PGWP(Post Grad Work permit).

3. As I said, it all depends on the individual to bag a job. The university MS will obviously be more helpful and hold more weight on your resume. You don't need to go back to India, if PR is your motive,as with a 3 years open PGWP..you will find lots of time to figure out a way to stay in Canada permanently. There are many student immigration programmes available for international students after studying from recognized Canadian educational institutes(both Universities and Colleges). Check out the offical links of all student immigration programmes:
http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/various-immigration-programmes-for-international-students-in-canada-t100908.0.html

Hope it helps.

Best of Luck.

Could you help me in figuring out some low Budget and good Universities for MBA which require both Work Ex and GMAT Exam ??

Actually I am confused between Course based masters ( M.Engg in IT related stream like S/W Engg ) or MBA for fall 13 Intake ?

Note : My B.Tech is in Electronics and Work Exp is in IT Company ( >2 years in SAP ) so what would be ideal choice for me as I don't want to go in Research or Core Technical Line'and that's why i listed above Course based masters only

Please help ASAP as time is running out !!!!!
