As I understand, we are allowed to bring personal belongings to Canada when we enter using a Study Permit. But as 4 people in my family will all be under Study Permits, and involve young children, we have more than what the airlines luggage would permit to bring over. If I end up sending stuff over via relocation services, will the items be taxed?
E.g., I actually want to ship over 4 iMacs, printers, books, and clothes. Will I get taxed if I send them over under a Study Permit?

Books may not be practical to send here, as the local schools will probably use a different set of textbooks. For printers, you may need to check the input voltage. Canada is using 110volts. IMHO, it’s more practical to buy the printer here than bring your old one.

You wont be charged duty as long as the items are not brand new, not used before, or gifts exceeding $60, tobbaco and or alcohol. There are other food related items that attracts fine of up to $800 at POE you should be aware of,

Expect to pay duties on electronics but not like clothing and books. But in my experience they will question why you are importing a iMac when you could buy one here. Have receipts for absolutely everything.

As long as Mac is personal belonging and not a brand new item, they wont be a problem
