Hi!

My wife, myself and my son established our address in Vancouver on the 8th of June of 2019 as permanent residents. In order to get the Canada Child Benefit (CCB), we need to do a tax return for 2018. We lived in Czech Republic in 2018 and our entire income has that origin.

When I did the tax return with Turbotax, now it says that we need to pay 6.000 CAD on taxes.

Does anyone know how to fix that? I am 100% sure I don't need to pay taxes in Canada for an income that happened in a different country before I became PR.

Thanks a lot.

You didn't need to do a 2018 tax return. That was a mistake. Contact CRA to correct that.

What you needed to do was fill out the RC66SCH form to show your previous income for CCB calculation purposes.
