Hi. We will be arriving in Fredericton NB sometime in January. My daughter-in-law will need a social insurance number to register in school there. Anyone knows how long it takes to get that number? Thank you in advance. Mike

I assume you mean that you will be landing as permanent residents then?

As long as she takes along her copy of the COPR, and other forms of ID etc. then you can get a SIN number immediately (same day if you want). Just turn up at a Services Canada centre, join the line then sit down with a nice person who will ask her for all the information they need and give you a SIN number there and then.
 
Yep, it's instant (minus the possible wait in line) as long as you go when they are open. They give you a piece of paper with the number.
