Permanent resident applying for HST number

Hi there. I have been a permanent resident now for 4 months. I want to apply for an HST number my my business that I started. How do I do this? There is no info whatsoever on the CRA website. I also read it takes 4 months to get the number once you have applied.. Any advice from anyone that has gone through this process?

You can apply on the phone and they will give it to you during the call. Just call the CRA Business and Self-Employment line at 1-800-959-5525. It's very easy and straightforward to register - you just need to answer a few quick questions. The process on the phone is much, much simpler than the forms online that you would need to mail in!
