Hi,
I am a Canadian citizen living in the UK and I have sponsored my husband for permanent residency, which has been approved. The confirmation letter says he needs to go through immigration at a port of entry before September 2018 and that he needs to spend 2 years out of 5 in Canada to maintain his permanent resident status. We have financial ties in the UK and need to sell our house etc before actually moving to Canada so is he able to fly out to 'validate' his permanent residence and leave again? We're planning to move next year so we will be in Canada for at least 3 years out of the 5 specified.
