hi

I have few questions, if anyone can help me on this

1. When the duration of 5 years would start for me, From the date of issue of visa or date of entry to Canada?

2. After issuance of PR, generally speaking within how much time period, it is mandatory to land in Canada?

3. During six years, how much time I need to stay in Canada to process renewal of PR without undergoing selection process again?

4. During six years, how much duration I need to stay in Canada to be able to apply for Citizenship. Is it 3 years or 4 years?

5. Does PR Card has an expiry date?

6. I don't want to stay much of time in Canada till the time I am done with my obligations in my home country, for that even if I have to stay more than six years outside Canada. is there a way to extend my PR without undergoing selection process again at the end of six years time period.

7. What if I leave my spouse and children in Canada and they can complete their duration over their but I can come back to homeland (I am principle applicant). Can my spouse and kids get their Citizenship after completion of required time, if not, can they renew their PR at least?

1. From the date that you land in Canada
2. You have to land before your medicals expire, which is typically one year
3. You need to stay in Canada for 2 out of every 5 years (on a rolling basis) to qualify to renew your PR card
4. At present, you need to live in Canada for 4 out of the last 6 years to qualify for citizenship. There is a bill in parliament to reduce this to 3 out of every 5 years, but this has not yet been passed.
5. Yes, the PR card expiry date will be clearly stated on the card.
6. No.
7. Yes, your family can live here and can qualify for citizenship. However, you must be aware that by leaving your family here, you will be deemed a resident of Canada for tax purposes and will have to declare your global income and pay Canadian tax on it.
