I’m an international student who study his master degree in UK, and im planning to continue my PhD in Canada (Looking for a scholarship) in order to get the Canadian nationality. My target universities are Toronto,Alberta,British Columbia. My question is how can I get my permanent residence as soon as possible in order to get the Canadian nationality fast, since the permanent residence day in Canada is equivalent to 1 day not a half.
Also, are there any cities that make it easier to get the PR, taking into consideration the I care about the reputation of university im going to

Thanks

One option would be to apply through the PhD stream of the federal skilled worker program. You'll need to complete at least two years of studies before you can apply. More information here:

Thank you very much brother, but there is a point which i dont understand
two years to get PR
=730 days*0.5=365
so 365+730=1095

So ,it will take 4 years for me,, I'm right!!!

Also, You said one option,so is there any in case it doesnt work, since they takes only 1000 application

I don't understand what you are asking above.

The 730 days and 1095 days have nothing to do with getting PR status. To obtain PR status, you must apply through one of the immigration streams. This process can take anywhere from a few months to several years. The 730 and 1095 days do not apply and have nothing to do with getting PR status.

Once you have PR status you must live in Canada 730 days out of every five years to keep your PR status valid. Also, once you become a PR, you can qualify to apply for citizenship once you have 1095 residency days in Canada. But since you don't have PR yet - none of this applies to you.

Another immigration stream you might want to consider is Canadian Experience Class. To qualify for CEC you must first finish a degree or diploma in Canada and then complete one year of full time paid work experience in a skilled role:

thank you very much brother.
I took alot from tour time
So you said thatI should spend 730 days every 5 years to maintane PR,my question is if i got my PR and then apply for passport(AND GET IT) do i need to stay 730 days every 5 years to maintane my passport or it is similar to PR.

Finally, regarding your expeience which is the best way to get PR to me?Is it continue PhD?

I can't tell you what the best way is for you to obtain PR. You will have to review the various options available and decide for yourself. If you feel uncomfortable doing this yourself - then I would recommend that you hire an immigration lawyer or consultant to assist you.

I'm still not sure I understand your other question. Once you have PR status, you then need to live in Canada for 3 out of the last 4 years in order to qualify to apply for citizenship. Note that two out of these four years must have happened after you became a PR. Also, each day before you became a PR can only be counted as a .5 day for citizenship purposes. Once you apply for citizenship, it will take about a year and a half for the application to be processed (assuming there are no problems with the application). During this time you must maintain your PR status by living in Canada 2 out of eveyr 5 years. Once you have citizenship, you will be free to travel / live wherever you wish and will not have to live in Canada 2 out of every 5 years.

Let's say that you decide to apply for PR thought the federal skilled worker PhD stream. Here's an approximate time line:

PhD studies you must complete in order to qualify to apply for PR: 2 years

Processing time for PR application: 1 year (this is a guess, it could be more or it could be less)

Time needed to qualify for citizenship after becoming a PR: 2 years (this assumes that you don't leave Canada even for one day for four years straight, two years before becoming a PR and two years after becoming a PR)

Processing time for citizenship application: 1.5 years (assuming there are no problems with your application)

Total: around 6.5 years from the time you arrive in Canada until you become a citizen (again, this is all approximately - it could take much longer).

A job offer does not give you PR directly. If you use the job offer to apply for PR under some immigration program, you still have to wait for your PR to be processed. Depending on the immigration class you go through and what country you apply through, it can take years to get the PR. After getting PR, you must live in Canada for at least 2 years provided you had been in Canada on a work or study visa for the 2 years previous in order to qualify for citizenship or if you haven't been in Canada on a temporary permit, you need 3 years in Canada after you get PR to qualify to apply for citizenship. Lets say that after you get the PR, you will probably have citizenship in 4.5 years or less but nothing is guaranteed. Citizenship applications can also take longer for no specific reasons. Why do you need to become a citizen in record time anyway?
