Hi everybody,

If a baby was born in Canada and the parents is on a visitor visa, how much time it needs for them to get the passport & the certificate of birth ???

I heard it takes around three months !!! And if thats true is there any way the baby can leave canada if the parents cant wait that long to get the passport ?? I mean will they issue any certificate that proves that he is a canadian citizen till his passport is ready and sent by mail through the canadian embassy in the country of origin of his parents ??

Since the baby is born in Canada. You can apply for Birth Certificate and then emergency passport showing the travel details of the parents. There is an additional $120 fees for the expedited processing.

so I cant apply for the emergency passport till I get the birth certificate ??

How long will the birth certificate to be issued ?? and how long the emergency passport take to be issued ??

I apologize for assuming you are from Toronto. The process is very similar in every province. You may be able to get it sooner as the no of applications is way to higher than in Alberta.
