Period between Study Permit and Working Holiday

Hello, Forum!

I've been trough some kind of "grey area" about the period between having a Study Permit and receiving a Work Holiday.

I currently have a Study Permit for a Full tome program. This study permit has a clausule 186(w). Which allow me to work if I had applied for a work permit before the study permit expires.

So I applied for a working holiday trough a recognized organization (RO) while I am still in Canada.

Does anyone know what happens if my student visa expires before receiving the Working Holiday approval?
And also, does anyone know if I can really work, following that clausule 186(w)?

reference for 186(w): laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/regulations/SOR-2002-227/section-186.html

Thanks very much!

That clause refers to applying for a post graduate work permit - not a working holiday visa. If you have completed your course of study, qualify for a PGWP and apply for the PGWP before your study permit expires - you can work full time until a decision in your PGWP is made.

The same rules don't apply to a working holiday visa / IEC - it's a completely different class of work permit.

Has your study permit already expired or is it still valid?
