Hi There,

I'm hoping I can find some answers here to my specific situation. I am living in Quebec on a temporary work permit (since Oct 2018) which is due to expire mid August. I have already satisfied the 12 months working experience (I'm aware this is due to change soon, but that hasn't come into effect yet) and was due to take my TEFAQ French exam back in March, which was cancelled do to COVID restrictions.

Testing centres have begun re-opening here in Montreal and I'm hoping to be able to resit my exam by the latest the first week of July (hopefully before if they can squeeze me in). I realise that means I will likely only be receiving my French results on or just before my work permit is due to expire. I am not a native speaker but confident I can pass the required B2 level.

My questions are;

- At what stage would I be covered by implied status? 1) On submission of my initial application for CSQ 2) on receipt of CSQ or 3) on submission to the government of Canada?

- Assuming I will not be be able to be covered under implied status for my PR application, would my only other course of action be for my employer to apply to extend my work permit and then benefit from that implied status which I separately wait for my PR application to be processed?

Thanks in advance, I wasn't able to find these answers anywhere online

- Csq doesn't entail implied status.
- Once you get csq and you have filed your PR application, you need to apply for a cwp (A 75) with your employer.

Since you won't get csq before expiry of your work permit, you are in a precarious position. I remember reading on Nadia Barrou (Immigration lawyer) page about a case similar to yours wherein she applied for cwp online on basis of csq application receipt by MIFI. I am not affiliated with her. Please contact if you wish to.
All the best.
