What are the interviews like? What sorts of questions did they ask you? Do they make you feel uncomfortable and give you attitude? Someone told me they can ask quite personal things like what color underwear does your spouse wear and etc! Is this true?

There are plenty of interview threads on here, do a search for them. Many include typical questions, and some include questions asked of specific applicants. Yes, they can and do ask for intimate details during interviews. For Outland applicants they might ask what the couple has decided in terms of children and if they are not trying to have kids how they prevent conception. They might be more likely to ask an Inland applicant questions concerning who sleeps on what side of the bed, what kind of furniture is in the bedroom, who gets up first on a typical morning, that kind of thing.

As for attitude, remember that an interview comes about because the officer has concerns about the application presented. In an interview where they suspect the relationship is non-genuine, the IO might come across as adversarial, to gauge how well applicants really know their spouses and how prepared they are to defend the relationship.

Go through the application package you and your spouse originally sent in. Know everything inside and out. They can ask you anything that you wrote in your package, so make sure you have dates and names etc down pat. They can ask you anything they want to ask you relating to your package or not (if they ask stuff like what colour underwear does your spouse wear, you can answer any way you want becauase I highly doubt you would have put that in your application!!!) Also, they never ask to specifically interview your spouse, they ask to interview the person being sponsored so you don't have to worry about getting your answers to "match" - just make sure you know what is in your application package! Ofcourse if they have reason to believe your marriage isn't "bona fide", they will try to rattle you. But if you have nothing to hide, then you have nothing to worry about! Our interviewer was serious but light hearted as well, so there were no issues there. Very similar to the passport control guys at the airport. Be nice, be respectful, honest, and have a sense of humour and you will be alright. =)

Careful ... that isn't necessarily true.

yes you are right OhCanadiana......if the sponsor attends with the applicant on the interview there may be a chance for the sponsor to be interviewed as well....at least in outland apps

Hey,

My husband had an interview and i was there!! at first, they didn't let me in but afterwards they asked me to be interviewed!! We got the visa on the same day!!! :D

Good luck!!

My interview went well, about 15 min or so.

The questions had nothing to do with my marriage, they put me only one question about my husband and how my our relatioship have had developed the rest of the questions was related with my ex husband, divorce, years spend it out side of my country (I used to live in Paris for 5 years).

Every case is different and the questions at of possible interview may be very different.

It depends on case to case, our took 20 mins and they interviewed me and wife together. One couple before us was interviewed for hour and half and was refused.

So the key is they study your case before interview and mark negative points. Some negative points could be:-

Marriage in different religion
Marriage with one person divorced earlier
Quick marriage after first meeting
No honeymoon
wedding with less gathering

Could be more...

If you don't have any negative point then it should be easy. Also make you order GCMS and you will see what concerns they have related to your case and you can prepare accordingly.

I will post some questions for couples living together. Those would be general questions but worth prepare if you are living together.

Good luck
