Hello.

There has been a lot of confusion based on whether to include work experience gained on implied status prior to PGWP and after full time studies (that is not registered as full time student). I have talked to three certified consultants, and two out of three told me it will as log as you can provide letter of completion (convocation date does not matter).

Now, regardless of technicalities, I am requesting for experienced people who have applied for PR or got PR while claiming experience prior to PGWP can share their application acceptance or rejection, so we can make an informed decision.

Knowing people who have gone through the same situation who have succeeded or got rejected would help better than speculation or taking a risk.

Thanks.
Ashish

Re: People who have claimed points prior to receiving PGWP.

Hi Ashish,

What exactly do you mean by 'experience gained prior to PGWP'?
Where and did you gain this experience?
If this experience was gained outside of Canada, you're good as long as you can provide a reference letter for the same.
If it's within Canada, it has to be on a Work permit.
While you're entering work experience in your EE application, the system would've asked you if 'is this experience gained while this person is a part-time/full-time student'
What did you answer for this question?
Please elaborate your situation so experts can guide you.

Hello Krishna,

I would really appreciate if Asivad, Del, you or other members can clarify this query for me.

1) I have completed masters in Canada and after than I got the graduation letter on August 14,2015 stating I completed all requirements, I started working full time from August 17, 2015 and got work permit
on Oct 30 2015. We are allowed to work during implied status while awaiting for our PGWP providing we are not full time student, which I was not from August 14, 2015. so would this experience would come under CEC?

2) In my pre ITA I put my starting date of work exp Aug17, 2015 (date on my offer letter), can I change it to Oct 30, 2015 post ITA to be on safe side so it counts after PGWP. I would still have one year work experience since I got my ITA Dec22, 2016.

Thanks.

If you still have one year experience after OCT2015, I guess you don't need to worry about anything, brother.
Regardless of how cic calculates your experience, you'll still be eligible.
If I were you, I'll leave it as it is and add a letter of explanation indicating these things, so the officer can understand that you're not trying to misinterpret anything.

Thanks Krishna.

I think the same though I am considering declining ITA, or it is not worth a issue that I should decline ITA?

Also, as a second opinion on work experience, On PGWP, I worked Oct 30, 2015 to Oct 23, 2016 (first job) and then Oct 25,2016 to current (second job). Both jobs are NOC B category in same NOC Code. ITA received Dec 22, 2016. So considering this I will have more than one year experience. Does this sound right?

Thanks.
