Just wondering if someone who is over 65 and who recently became a PR through family sponsorship qualifies for canadian pension or not?
Just curious on this matter. Are their any other benefits that might be available?

Thanks

1. Need 10 years in Canada before they are eligible, then it would 10/40th of the pension.

PMM are you referring to a pension or old age security? As far as I know, in order to collect a Canadian pension one would have had to work in Canada and contribute to CPP.

Old Age Security however, is available if someone has resided in Canada for at least 10 years after turning 18.

OAS. (The OP said the person was over 65, so I assumed that they weren't going into the work forces)
