Hi,

I am a PR, and my wife applied for a visitor visa to join me on May 15, 2021. Her exemption of travel restrictions had been communicated to the Ankara visa office on Jul. 27, 2021. Yet, we have not heard anything from IRCC. Neither IRCC nor that visa officer answers our webforms. Is there any similar case whose visa has been already issued or waiting in the same step?

As of Tuesday, exemptions are not needed, just the visa. Visa processing can be very long and not guaranteed. Why have you not applied for spousal sponsorship? This should have been your first step months ago.

TRVs are not guaranteed for spouses of PRs. People misinterpret that travel exemption. IF a spouse has a TRV they are able to come to Canada but a TRV is not guaranteed. Your spouse will need to wait and see if they are granted a TRV. It can be very difficult for spouses of citizens and PRs to get a TRV because it is pretty clear in most cases that they plan on remaining in Canada.
