'Pending' to 'In progress' status

Hi,

Our work permit application status changed from 'pending' to 'in progress'.
Could you please let me know what is the difference between these two?
Any idea how much time does it takes after 'in progress' status to finally getting approval?

Means your application has been taken by an official and now is being reviewed, before it was just in the queue.

The processing times might change according the kind of work permit you applied to and whether you did that online or by paper. Also, if you`re applying for first time from outside Canada the times change according to the country you`re applying from.

You can access the CIC web site, click on the Immigration tab - My application - Check application processing times.

Please notice this times are updated weekly and are based on the time that it takes CIC to process 80% of the applications.
