I was charged in 2009 and acquitted in 2014 of a leaving the scene of accident. They did an appeal and the judge declared that my action did not constitute a violation of the law. My police certificate shows that I have no criminal background. On pending charges certificate, it shows that in February there was an appeal, sentence was acquitted but it still shows on there as apparantly here it takes forever to clear. So even though it says that I was acquitted, I fear that it will affect my application. My lawyer inquired about this at the courthouse and they told him there is nothing that it can be done because it takes time to completely be dropped of the pending charges certificate because the appeal was just in February.

Should I be worried? I'm planning on sending a letter explaining everything. Does anyone have a similar experience that could calm my nervous? My wife and daughter are Canadian and are in Canada waiting for me.

Don't worry about it because worrying gets you nowhere. You were not convicted and you don't have pending charges. The thing to do is include a note explaining everything and it shouldn't be an issue.
