Hi Guys,

I noticed that since the new machines were set in place for PR and Citizens at Pearson customs they don't stamp your passport anymore, I am assuming the machine is recording our entry and CIC has a way to retrieve this information.

What do you think?

All entries are recorded in the CBSA database...
you can get your entry record to Canada by requesting CBSA or CIC can take consent from you to get the information directly.
They do not stamp passports anymore.

Interesting... So how would a common man would know his entries and exit when he/she wants to apply for Citizenship.. are we expected to memorize all these dates.. this is not convenient for the ones who will be applying in the near future... never read this anywhere else though.... Interesting... Technology is good but I do not trust information that I cannot see...

I guess keep a captain's log on your travel dates or request for the CBSA report before applying...

this has been going on for a while now. even before the automated system, my passport was never checked. the officer only checked my PR card. passports are never stamped for land borders as well. one needs to record every date of entry and exit. also the stamp dates are not always correct. specially when flying.

My passport has always been checked, not just the PR card. Even in the machines, you have to scan your passport there too, not just the PR card.

The lack of a physical stamp is slowly becoming standard practice...I rarely get stamped at re-entry even when not using the automated gates. Best way to track travels is to use a spreadsheet which has the added benefit of calculating presence and/or absence days.

Since day 1 in Canada, apart from the very first stamp used to validate my visa, I don't have any other Canadian stamps as YVR was the first airport to use automated kiosks to clear immigration (about 4 years ago).

I ordered the CBSA report and the dates on it perfectly match my entries.

Bottom line: nothing to worry about.

In fact one who is truthful and clear to himself with reasonable travel, need not to be worried about stamps issues. CIC will get the data from CBSA no matter if some one order or not. From destination country there is a entry and exit stamps in passports..

I do have an Excel spreadsheet for whole family members entry-exit days, created that one when we landed as PRs and still keeping a precise track of all movements.

Yup, doing exactly that for my wife, a newly landed PR. I also maintained a spreadsheet for myself which I used when i applied for Citizenship.

I wish. My passport was not stamped for one entry that was very important. Entry was not in CBSA report. I was sent an RQ.

Soopergal, dare I ask what "very important entry" you are talking about? PR landing date stamp?
