I have received an email from the Visa office requesting me to attend the PDOS and CIIP seminar. I am confused because I still don't have my visa approval or passport request. I've heard that those who are invited to go through PDOS and CIIP seminars has already received their visa approval. They require my medical form as valid document needed for me to be qualified to attend the seminars. I need your advice on this matter. Is this a positive sign, that my visa approval will come soon? Please enlighten me. Thank you in advance for your advice.

Unfortunately this is not anymore reliable. This maybe true as observed a few years ago, when the invitation to attend PDOS and CIIP is a precursor to visa issuance after a few weeks (a couple of months at most). However - now it only means that your application processing has passed a certain point in the flow that triggered the action to send these invites. The timeline from this development to the time to the next update on your application, there is no reliable trend based on current observations. CIC/VOs are very unpredictable now.mr dj said:

Yes. There have been many cases. However, there is really no direct correlation of these invites to the status of the application. What has been observed a few years ago is not applicable to current applications; it may have been a predictable occurence before, but not now. None has even offered a credible explanation as to what triggers these invites; what we can assume only is the application has passed a milestone that triggered these - what that milestone is, nobody knows.mr dj said:
I would advise you not to connect the dots here - and try to link/correlate this occurrence as an indicator of success or failure of the application. The final determination/decision on your application usually comes much later. There are lucky ones who receive a passport request after these invites; but there are also many who have received these invites but are still waiting for their passport requests - some even for close to a year now. What is a sure thing right now is - this process has become more unpredictable and longer and longer.
