hello member

as per the guideline given by CIC, i understand that PCC is valid for 3 months from the date of issue.

But my concern is that 3 months from the date of mine initial application to Nova Scotia, canada. or 3 months from the date i submit my full docs to local visa office new delhi.

plz clarify i am confused because as per the guideline given by CIC they have mentioned that before u make initial application to nova scotia please collect all relevant documents.

plz advice

regards

3 months from the date you submit your full docs to local visa office.

For example :

PCC issue date is 15th March, 2010
Full Docs submission date : 10th June, 2010
PCC is fine in this case

PCC issue date is 15th January, 2010
Full Docs submission date : 10th June, 2010
You need to get a fresh PCC in this case.

Regards

thanks for the info

in my case what i have done is that i have obtained pcc from uk for me and my spouse in the month of feb 2010 which is not the current country of my resident. submitted initial application to cio in the month of march. received 1st AOR in june. will be submitting full docs to new delhi in the month of august. by the time i will submit my pcc which i have obtained from uk police will be more than six month old. but i will be submitting most recent pcc from india.

will it be fine? because even if i will apply for the pcc from uk police there will be same data they will finding on the record as i have moved to india in 2009. so what i am trying to do here is that to save money.

plz advice

The PCC should not be older than 30 days from your application to CIO.
eg. PCC issued on 1st Jan, App send to CIO on 25th March, AOR received on 15th June, Full docs submitted on 25th Sep, then also your PCC is valid

It is absolutely fine

Ankit is correct, it is 3 months before submission to CIO. This is clearly stated in the application instruction guide. So your PCCs are good-

Hi ankit_20 , Did you mean 90 days in the example quoted ?

Did you mean that "Any pcc issued within 3 months (90 days ) from the day of submission of intial application to CIO is valid throughout the application process period (even if it takes 20 months) unless CIO sprecifically asked for a fresh PCC"?

Also, I find a deadlock situation in the case of PCC of some countries. For Ex: Singapore needs a proof from CIO (our registartion number issued by CIO on submitting the application ) to apply for a PCC. However as per new CIO rules, PCC should be issued before hand. How to tackle this? Thanks.

YES

I am not sure as I did not face this problem. I remember Pankajk telling me how he got the PCC from Singapore, try sending him a PM and see if you get any help

The PCC has to be issued within 3 months prior to the date of initial application to the CIO (per instructions at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/EG73.asp

If you are getting ready to apply to the CIO now, note that you need to send the PCCs to the CIO with your initial application (the rules changed on June 26, 2010 and you need to send all the docs in your visa office specific checklist with your initial application).
If the CIO received your application before June 26, 2010 then you need to submit the PCC to the Visa Office when you submit all documents to them.

There are a few exceptions which are clearly noted at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/index.asp. For Singapore, it is a little bit confusing since they say you need to submit the PCCs with your application (in other exceptions they clearly say it isn't necessary to send initially), and also say you need the letter from the visa office to apply. I'd try to email the visa office to get a letter from them. If that doesn't work you can include a print out of the instructions for Singapore and your e-mail to the visa office with your application to the CIO and ask them for the letter so you can get the PCC and submit it.

PCC's 3 month validity gets a lock date the moment it reaches CIO.
