Hi,

Anyone has any idea to get PCC for non-Indian. I called Indian Consulate and they gave me address/fax of Home Ministry and told me to contact then ( send application). The thing is I have no clue I will get the PCC and that too within 120 days.

I am planning to fax the home ministry of the state from here (its Haryana, I was in Gurgaon working) and write a letter saying that I did send the letter( applied for PCC) and when I get it I will send to Buffalo,US office where I have to send my completed application package.

Any suggestions? Any one had similar situation? And how did u handle this?

Thanks for help...

Hi CanadaCanada,

I'm in a similar situation. I need to get police clearance certificates from Bangladesh and Cambodia, but I'm a non-resident foreign national to both countries. The CIC information on how to do this is inaccurate or does not apply to this situation. For example, the CIC says I am to apply to the Bangladesh High Commission in Ottawa, but the BDHC tells me they don't do this (I managed to get that in writing). The Bangladeshis on this forum are trying to help, but I don't think I will get anything in time. Cambodia is pretty much hopeless. I will submit my application anyway.

I was told by CIC to simply document all efforts to obtain them. Give a detailed explanation as to why you haven't been able to get this, and document EVERY contact. Like I said, I was fortunate to get the High Commission's refusal in writing. Cambodia is harder since I can't get any response, let alone one in writing.

Another thing - are you currently in Canada? Many communities have "Immigrant Settlement Services" under the Immigrant Settlement and Adaptation Program (ISAP), funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada. My community does, and I asked for their help to try to get these certificates. Their representative ran into the same brick walls, and I have HER efforts documented, too. If you aren't in Canada but know where you want to settle, perhaps they will also help you.

Folks ....
Go to the website of consulate and check the instructions.
All indian consulates will provide PCC.
there are 2 stages
stage 1 you apply using the misc form (takes upto 60 days to get PCC - comes from passport authority in india)
Stage 2- you send the passport when you get a call from consulate or after 60 days are over.
Please read the instructions.

I got my PCC from chicago

CanadaCanada,

What you were told is different from the instructions on the Indian Embassy website in Washington DC:
http://www.indianembassy.org/newsite/passport.asp

See #3, Miscellaneous Service/Attestation of Documents

However, what State are you in? It seems that determines which Embassy/Consulate you apply to ... (you can use the same form). According to the instructions on the form, you have to send your passport in with the form. There's nothing about Stage 1/Stage 2 like ADA says.

Keep records of all communications - send the form by courier or registered mail so that you have a receipt to document your application. That way, if you don't receive the PPC in time and you have to send your application in, you can demonstrate that you applied for it...

Mr/Mrs Js_ON

Please dont misguide here.
I have done my PCC from Chicago consulate.
http://chicago.indianconsulate.com/Passpins.html

There is a stage 1 and 2. They dont issue the PCC in one day. Its India and it still takes 50 days to get PCC from US. If you want it faster tell somebody from India (gets done in a week with some 'dakshina')
If you are applying from other jurisdiction, It might take anywhere from 30 to 60 days. But in all processes you will have to wait.

If the passport was issued in US (at least 5 years back i guess) then you can walkin and get PCC

ADA - please, how did I misguide? I only indicated the instructions from Washington were different from yours. We don't know where CanadaCanada is or to which consulate/Embassy s/he should apply.

So - CanadaCanada - check the link below for your jurisdiction, and then CHECK the specific instructions of the relevant consulate. They may not be identical to EITHER Washington DC or Chicago...

Hello CanadaCanada,

Sorry, no, I do not understand your confusion. You are non-Indian, this is clear. You lived in India, which is the only reason you need a PCC from India, this is clear. You said that you are now in the US, right? If you are are a resident of the US, you should apply to one of the Indian consulates in the US. Does not matter where your passport is from. "All other" covers it!

Which state are you in? Which consulate site?

Perhaps ADA can confirm that s/he is non-Indian, also?

My state falls under Chicago Indian Consulate.

The whole thing is i called and talked to a lady there at the consulate and thats what she told me..."we cann't do anything for person without an Indian passport ".
Although, VC mailed asking whether I have applied already and if not go ahead and apply but i still have doubts so i am just hang in there to see what others say.
