Hello Friends, Guides,

I am not sure if this has been asked before but since I am not able to find it, so asking this query....I am a Oct'14 applicant and did not send PCC with my application....so I was thinking that let me start working on arranging the PCC...I noted the following extract on the CIC website:

How to obtain a police certificate - India
Do I need to provide a police certificate when applying for permanent residence?
Yes.

How and where do I obtain one?

Local Requests

For districts other than the Punjab:
Applicants should contact the local Senior Superintendent of Police/ Superintendent of Police/ Commissioner or Deputy Commissioner of Police, the Additional Commissioner of Police, or the Station House Officer (Police clearance certificate issued by the Regional Passport Office are also acceptable.

For residents of the Punjab:
Only the Senior Superintendent of Police or the Regional Passport Office may sign a Police Clearance Certificate.

Non-Resident Requests
Applicants should contact the Indian embassy or consulate.

What worries me is the last part i.e. Non - Residents Requests....they say that we should contact the consulate....But can we just get it from SP office in our hometown as that will be so easy......Has anyone who applied in CEC got the PR after suppying PCC from home country rather than consulate....Thanks....

You can get your PCC from either your SSP if you are going there. By Non-Resident Requests, CIC implies that for individuals who will not be visiting India, can go to the consulate for the PCC.

If you are currently residing in Canada. Then you should go via BLS. Book an appointment for passport submission and submit it via post or walk-in. You should get your PCC in two weeks time.
