Passport will expire during PR process. Advice?

Hi everyone!

I am a PNP paper-based applicant and as you know it might take 16 months to process. My passport will expire in April 2018 while my PR application will still be in process. I have the following questions:

1. If I renew my passport, will my work permit which has the number of this current passport be canceled too? Will this cancel my status and affect my PNP?

2. Do I need to renew my work permit afterward If I have a new passport?


Anyone who experienced this before please share your wisdom! Really appreciate your help!

Hi

1. Your work permit will remain valid.

2. You will need to apply for an extension if your PR app hasn't been completed by the time your work permit expires in April.

After I renew my passport, I just need to tell CIC by the case-specific inquiry, needn't I?

Yes, you need to inform the CIC about the new passport information, & reason for the renewal

you need to attach the new passport first and last page.
