Passport validity

I just saw a post where somebody had done research and saw that the passport needs to have atleast 18 months validity or it needs to be renewed before issuing the visa. Is this correct or is it 6 like I was thinking? Or not even that?

My PP expires August 2015

I don't think so it should be valid for 18 months. I think it should be 'just' valid. You have enter Canada before its expiry. Correct me if I am wrong.

I too thought the general rule for using a passport for travel was 6 months.

I actually received a request from CIC a few weeks ago asking for a copy of my passport. The only thing they said in the request was that it was valid for at least six months. Hope that helps

Ok, so I will base it on their request of you. However, if they request a copy of a passport with at least 6 months validity it doesn't mean that it will be more than 6 months when entering Canada.. Hmm, tricky

My friend's wife has received PP request and they have asked the following: "For your visas to have maximum validity, all passports should be valid for at least 12 months from the date of your medical examinations"

She has her medical in Dec 2013 and her passport will expire in Feb 2015.

Yup I think it depends becoz according to the document checklist in the Philippines .the expiry date of the passport must be valid for atlease 18 moths from the date you submit your application.
