Passport Validity to enter Canada

Hello!

I hope some of you guys can help me out with my question. I am an Austrian citizen and I have already booked my flight to Canada from December 24th 2018 to January 14th 2019.

When I was checking entry requirements I read that some countries enforce the 6 or 3 months passport validity rule after departure. I could not find such rule for Canada however. My passport will expire on April 5th 2019 (my eTA is valid until April 4th 2019). So that leaves me with less than 3 months passport validity after my departure from Canada.

Will that be a problem? Will I be having issues entering Canada? Does Canada even enforce a passport validity rule? On the CBSA website I can only find that travel document is a valid passport, it does not say how long the passport has to be valid for.

Thank you so much for your help!

1. The only rule for Canada, is that the passport must be valid to the end of authorized stay in Canada.

Your passport needs to be valid for your intended stay. Don't worry too much about this right now.
