Passport validity for Request to submit Passport

Hello Community,

I am seeking advise from community on passport expiry, i got letter from IRCC to submit passport and it say passport must be 6 months valid, but my passport is due to expire in 5 months (First week of March 2024), i want to get advise should i go and get the passport renewed or submit the current one, as with new one passport number would be changed and will this affect my application ?

Come on...... you literally said the passport must be 6 months or more but you are somehow conflicted. There is no option for you here, YOU MUST RENEW THE PASSPORT. By the time IRCC would get the existing one, its probably down to 4 months remaining.

Submit your application to renew the passport and inform IRCC that you are waiting on the new document. Your PR application already indicates that the current passport does not have the required time on it. Your COPR has not been issued, so nothing would change beyond a longer processing time to get the new passport. Once submitted, IRCC would update your application accordingly.
