Passport submission before approval

Hi

Does any one have an idea if I can submit my passport directly to the embassy for an existing TRV application.

I have already applied for TRV last month but did not submit my passport as I had other business travel plans. I am back from my trip and would like to avoid the 7-10 day passport submission delay in case my TRV comes through.
