REMINDER
Your visa(s) are only valid if all of your dependents (spouse, common-law partner or dependent child) have been declared and examined.
This means that you must inform us of any change in marital status or family composition (marriage, common-law marriage, separation, divorce, birth of a child, etc.) BEFORE you submit your passports. Once you have obtained the visas, you must also notify us of any changes that may occur BEFORE you leave for Canada. At that point, we will explain how to proceed.
If you present a visa and a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (IMM5292) that do not reflect your actual situation, you could be refused entry to Canada. Any current family member not declared or not examined in this application can NEVER be sponsored by you in the future. Misrepresenting or withholding information could make you inadmissible to Canada.

3- HELPFUL TIPS AND INFORMATION
Do not purchase your airline ticket or make final travel arrangements until you have received your passports with your visas.
Validity of visas
Canadian immigration law prohibits extension or renewal of permanent resident visas. If you do not use your visa by the validity date indicated on the visa, you must re-apply if you still intend to immigrate to Canada, and you must meet all the current requirements, including payment of applicable fees. All new applications are assessed based on the legislation and regulations in effect at the time.
Family members included in your application may enter Canada with you, the principal applicant, OR after you, as long as it is before the expiry date indicated on the visa, but they may not enter Canada before you.
Once you have become a permanent resident of Canada, if your dependents who have been declared and examined do not use their visa before the expiry date, you must sponsor them. For information on sponsorship procedures in the family class, contact the Citizenship and Immigration Canada call centre (1-888-242-2100) or visit the CIC website at www.cic.gc.ca.
Keeping your status as a permanent resident
To keep your status as a permanent resident, you must have been physically present in Canada for a minimum of 730 days (not necessarily consecutive days) within the five years following the date on which you were granted permanent resident status. In some cases, you may accumulate residency days while outside Canada. For further information, please visit the Citizenship and Immigration Canada website at www.cic.gc.ca.
Preparing to leave
A wealth of helpful information about settling in Canada, including information on customs, taxation, health care, education and employment can be found at the following website: www.canadainternational.gc.ca.
We also invite you to visit the following sites for information on Francophone communities throughout Canada: www.immigrercanadafrancophone.ca and www.rendezvousfrancophonie.com.
Settlement funding
(This applies only to applicants in the economic category. It does NOT apply to family class, refugees or Quebec-selected applicants.)
Please make sure that you have sufficient available and transferable funds once all the costs associated with leaving for Canada have been paid. You must show proof of funds at the port of entry to Canada; otherwise, you could be refused admission to Canada. For more information, visit the Citizenship and Immigration Canada website at www.cic.gc.ca.
