Passport sent and received timeline question.

urgent question, please reply ASAP. my wife just got a letter to sent her passport in to Nairobi within 60 days. She is traveling to another country on June 23rd and needs her passport for that obviously. How long does it take for them to sent the passport back to her. Is that enough time for her to get the passport back if she sends it ASAP. People that have gone through this process please reply ASAP, it would greatly be appreciated. Thanks.

I got my passport back within 2 weeks of submitting it, but then I live within walking distance of the embassy that processed my application. I suggest if your wife's travel plans are confirmed, that she send a copy of her itinerary for this travel along with the passport and a cover letter explaining that she needs the passport back in time for those travel plans to be effected.

thanks Charlie, another question, do they use normal postage or do they send through regular post or courier? also did you go through Nairobi too?

It varies from embassy to embassy. I processed through Kingston, Jamaica and they sent letters to me via regular mail. However, they have requested that many applicants submit documents via courier and prepay to have them returned via the same method. It is the applicant's responsibility to prepay for courier services in the offices that I know of that use this method, most often they use regular mail.
