Hi,

I am in India and recently received an email notification (not a letter in hard copy) from Canadian consulate in Los angeles, USA that my application for Permanent residency processing has been completed. They asked us to send our passports or come in person to LA office. We had applied for PR when we were in USA and moved back to India 6 months back.

I cannot go to US in person since i dont have a VISA to travel to USA.
I cannot send passports via courier since courier companies are not accepting passports to be delivered.

I have sent an email / fax to LA canadian consulate explaining my situation 2 weeks back and have not heard from them yet.

What are the options available for me? Did anyone come across this situation? Pl comment.

please let me know what happens since I am in same situation

Hi,

Did you inform your VO that you were moving back to India? This is a vital information that your VO should have had. I guess you did not inform your VO ( pl correct me if I am wrong). Generally VOs advise the applicant of the consequences of moving away from the jurisdiction of the VO.

Yes, courier companies will not take your PP as it is illegal to send/receive PP outside the geographical territories of India.

Unless you find a way to send your PPs to your VO you might actually set grounds for a cancellation of your PR application. Find a reliable friend or family member to carry your PP to your VO. Also be advised that the PP cannot be mailed back to you in India. The VO will only courier your PPs to an US address. If you find someone to carry/and bring back your PP, then please do send an authorization letter (and affidavit it) with that person.

Best of luck.

Hi Mitali,

Thanks for taking interest in replying back. Yes, i did inform VO and updated my file with my current address in India. In fact, they had earlier sent me the medical forms to my address in India. I did not receive any communication from VO about the consequences of moving back to India from US.

I am exploring various options. What kind of the "authorization letter (& affidavit it)" do i need to have? Do i have to prepare it by myself or get it from Government authorities in India?

Thanks again for your assistance

Thanks...
