How long is your business trip? Do you have a valid re-entry visa to Canada? If it's couple of days just go and come back and send them your passport. If it's more than that and it will interfere with your PR process, just abandon the trip. Once they ask for your passport it will take a week tops to weeks to get it back to you stamped, so you can go to your trip and come back and land as a PR.
