This reply is a little late but I believe the Istanbul office is fairly quick. May I ask how long you waited for the passport request after submitting the visa application?

How long did it take? I have a same situation and I cannot stay for long in Istanbul as I do not live in Turkey and need to go back to my country of residence in 2 weeks.
