Passport renewal -when and how to update PR application?

HI guys,

Im still waiting for PPR and my Work permit expires in october 2012. I was about to send my Work permit extension application but found that work permit can only be given up to the expiry date of the passport.In my case the expiry of passport is March 2013..
I want to know whether i should apply for a new passport right now then apply for work permit and later update CIC with my new passport info for the PR application
OR
should i just continue with the old passport and get a work permit till march 2013 and later before March 2013 renew my work permit once again( if needed).Will CIC issue me a work permit for 6 months till march 2013?

Furthermore, what documents needs to be filled and sent again besides copies of passport when passport gets renewed?

Here is my 5 cent advice. From observations PR application is highly unpredictable and hence any assumption is dangerous. In order words what you have right now you have control over. I would suggest you go ahead and renew your workpermit and depending on your status or stage of your PR application provided there are no surprises in your application.

BTW one other factor you need to consider is that how soon can you get a new passport? that might be a spin to your whole issue as well. From now to Oct is just about 3 and half months...if you are sure of getting a new passport before then...then go for it at least when you apply for work permit renewal you already have a brand new passport and you can enjoy the max duration of work permit.

In summary, if you look at the hierachy of events PR should come least as you have less control over it as it stands.
