Hi,

I have received the PR visa and COPR documents for me and my wife. Currently I am out of Canada and I am planning to do the landing by this year end. I just need to confirm that in meanwhile can I do the passport renewal. If yes, then Do I need to inform CIC for the same.

Check the deadline for landing on your COPR - if you're talking about landing by year end - let's say December 1 - you usually are not permitted that long to land ... You have to land by the deadline, otherwise you will loose your PR status.

Yes, if you renew your passport before you land, you should inform CIC.

Why dont you land by year end and renew your passport in Canada at your consulate? I don't know if you have to inform CIC about that or not. Maybe ask the immigration officer when you land. Others can give your input about this.
I guess your passport won't be expired til April 2015, hence that is your deadline to land? The visa is usually valid till either your medical or passport expire, whichever comes first.

Yes the passports are valid till April 2015. But I need to renew the passports 6 months before the expiry as currently I am out of my home country and deputed to Sweden for work

Your passport number is listed on your COPR and when you land, the CBSA officer will check that it matches the passport you are using to enter Canada. If the number is different, it's quite possible that the officer would not allow you to land. I suggest you contact CBSA to find out. It's possible they will let you land if you still have the old passport with you or they may need to return your COPR to have it amended with the new passport number.
