Passport related - Experts please advise

I received passport request on 24th July. I requested CIC to change visa office to India. My query is: My present passport will expire in Apr,2016. When CIC issues Visa, VISA expire date is till passport expires? (Someone told me, in general they issue visa for 1 yr). Considering the passport expiry date I might get a validity of 7/8 months. To have increased visa validity I am planning to apply for new passport. When I get new passport, do I need to inform CIC regarding change of passport or while sending for Visa stamping just send new passport?

you will get reply for change visa office within a week. NOrmally visa issue until validity of remians medical date. After you get stampped in Paaport and you passport will going to Expire then you can apply renew passport but you will keep old passport with u foreever.
No need stamping in New passport, When you travelling, you have to keep both passport with u.
I am not an expert but I give general idea.

Does the PR visa expires the day of your passport or 5 years? :-\

PR visas are generally issued for 1 year - this gives you plenty of time to land.
Visas in general are issued to a maximum of the passport validity.

In this case passport expiry date would limit the PR visa attached to that passport.

Yes this seems to be an issue with me as well.

Probably you will need to inform CIC after you get your renewed passport along with the respective scanned copies (since the passport number changes). Since your VISA would already be stamped on your older passport, probably you will need to carry both passports on landing. Not sure what response would be sent by CIC.

Also depends on when are you planning to land. A friend of mine in recent times was planning to visit Dubai, but he was not allowed to fly since his passport was expiring in a month's time. He had to renew his passport. So I am not sure how this is going to turn up for you as well as for me. I would strongly suggest to send a mail to CIC ASAP regarding the situation and get a confirmation from them.

As per ur timeline,

medical is done july 14, 2015
so as per rules, you will get PR-immigrat visa till july 14,2016,,,,
BUT you passport is going to expire April 2016 so you definately will get visa till April 2016, not july 2016.....

Hello PP62,

Today I received CIC email for change of visa office to India. As you rightly said, CIC also mentioned in the email that VISA will be issued until the expiry of passport. Looks like the there are less job opportunities for my profile in Canada. So, I am planning to have extended visa time. So, I am thinking to apply for new passport and inform CIC via. email asking about the process to follow for new passport
