It says 10 Business days to receive passport. one of my friend received in 4 days (normal processing). how long does it actually take?

I am planning to go to Passport Canada (not service Canada or Post Office) - and I am planning to do a RUSH passport (extra 110$). but If I get it in 4 days that would be fine.

If you just check the site, you will see that there are three options available:

http://passport.gc.ca/info/section6.aspx?lang=eng

The exact amount of time required for processing of Express Pickup varies by location based on how busy they are. Urgent cases are processed within 24 hours, and I've even had a passport issued within 4 hours. However, you have to prove that you do require such urgent service.

I will be driving to USA. I don't know if they accept this or not.
But my question is, if we apply normally (10 Business days) - will it take 10 days or sometimes 4 or 5 days?

When we applied for passports for my kids, they gotten theirs in 10 business days (2 weeks). They even issued you a paper with date of expected time you will receive the passport by.

It can be less than 10 business days, but it all depends on the volume of applications they receive. If you visit your local passport office, they actually have signs up that say when you can expect to receive your passport if you apply that day.

Mine took exactly 10 business days. If you need to have it sooner, don't bank on the regular processing being faster, go for the urgent processing option.

We recently applied and got ours after 5 days. normal processing. we submitted in person but had them mail the passport to us.
