Passport has been cancelled and my study permit expires on April 30, 2016. HELP

Hi,

I'm in a process of renewing my passport that will expire on December 16, 2016. Venezuela's consulate takes about 2 months to issue the new passport, and since I started my renewing on March 15, 2015, I'm supposed to get the new one by the middle of May. But my issue is that my study permit expires on April 30, 2016, and I need a study permit extension for 3 months in order to apply later on for a PGWP. I haven't applied for the study permit extension, but I'm afraid that if I do it now that my passport has been cancelled, CIC will deny my application. And even if I try to go back home the day my study permit expires, I don't have a valid passport to travel. I don't know what to do,

Should I email CIC to explain my case? I have already tried with my consulate and they say there is nothing they can do for the waiting time because our passports are issued back home and then sent to Canada.

I need any suggestion

Did you make copies of your old passport before you sent it to the consulate? You could still try and apply and explain that your passport is sent out for renewal. I don't think CIC needs your passport for your extension but I do see that they will need a passport number, so thats a dilemma.

Still apply now and explain the situation so they are aware, they may just isssue you the permit with the old passport number and tell you to notify them when you get the new passport and they will change the passport number.

Just remember to include a letter of explanation.
