Passport came back empty......

Hi everyone, so glad i came across this forum....
I'd like to share my story and ask a question and hope someone can help me out or give me some advice.....

So, Spousal sponsorship for my husband, I am a Canadian citizen and also Bosnian as well. I moved back to Bosnia and stayed here we applied for sponsorship in 2010. Everything was slow but that's ok. On May 9th we recieved an email that says my husband to send his passport (we send and go through Vienna austria) to Vienna so a visa may be affixed and papers competed. We did that right away. We recieved the passport back few days ago empty....there was no visa in the passport, no explanation letter in it. Absolutely nothing. when i check status online it says 'in process' ....what am i supposed to do? I emailed them now im waiting for reply, becuse via phone its impossible to get ahold of them and wont give out information over phone.
Please, help

Hi SoonCanada,

If I may ask, is your husband from a visa exempt country? I have heard that since Dec 2011, people from visa exempt countries no longer get their passports stamped. They can land with the confirmation of permanent residency.

If he is not from a visa exempt country, maybe you can write to the embassy and ask? I hope the more experienced member of the forum will have some ideas for you.

Even if he is from a visa-exempt country, he should have received the COPR. From what SoonCanada posted, it sounds like he just got the passport back by itself with no other papers at all.

Isometry, yes, COPR is the confirmation of permanent residency that I mentioned

If no confirmation was received, then I would think contacting the embassy is the way to go.

I dont think we're from the visa exempt country.. we're not even in european union yet....How do i know which countries are from visa exempt? No we didnt get any other papers with the passport, that i honestly assumed that we either should've icluded the email in hard copy and send it along with passport, or we send it to wrong department so the mail returned...

Did you get anything else in the package when they mailed the package back to you? If not, if you share the letter they sent you requesting the passport we can try to help (remove all personal details).

So we deff did send it like they asked, tracked the passport,they received it on may 16th....

That is a passport request indicating your application was approved. I would send them a case specific enquiry through the visa office link at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/apply-where.asp (or reply to the e-mail you got on May 9). Attach a copy of the tracking information showing they received it on May 16th and a copy of the envelope with which it was returned. Tell them that you neither received your COPR nor a visa and ask them where to send your passport to (or where to drop it off) so that you can get your visa and COPR.

Thank you so much...i have emailed them, forwarded all the info, and im waiting now....I deffinetly will mail the passport again along with the print out of the email they send and all that important stuff...

if anyone else has a similar situation as we, please do share it with me and others....id love to hear the outcome! The embassies may be too busy and in rush before vacations and lots of confusions happen right?

i'm sure many ppl read it cuz the title is shocking but they don't say anything since they really don't know what u say; it's better than giving wrong answers
it looks to me that u were approved (the visa is ready) just a small mistake from their part which will b fixed hopefully soon....now i'm wondering: is ur passport still valid, did u renew it during the process and they did not know, did u have any blank page; r ur medicals close to expiry? (maybe they will first ask to renew those) : : :

u might try to fax ur question/dilemma too (maybe it's faster than email or the case inquiry); make sure u mention all the possible info to make it easier for them to access ur file; good luck and keep us posted!!

missminni, hello

my husbands passport is vaild til 2015...he just got it 2yrs ago...thats the one we applied with in the begining, mine is as well til 2015 issued by canada...medical's were expired (first one we did in august '10) that expired, got mail asking to renew,did that in Feb, went to vienna dropped it off and asked for status, were told that within 2-3months we would get more info...and we did, passport req. but as you can see we got a bit of misunderstanding here...im sure i understood the email correctly that we were approved,right?
