Hi,

is it true that part time jobs I had while I was an international student on SP don’t need to be added to personal history as the main occupation was student?

That is correct. Your main 'occupation' while on a study permit was STUDENT. I held the same part-time job with a bank for 2.5yrs and that's the only reason I included it on mine. I had 2 other part time jobs which were less than 3 months and I completely left those out. Unless the jobs were important, I would leave them off. No need to list Tim's and McDonalds' server on your forms if you get what I'm saying.

I only had crappy jobs during SP, serving at some restaurants etc… my lawyer has told me not to mention any of them as they are completely different irrelevant but how come this would not be misrepresentation?

I won't call those jobs like serving at some restaurants as crappy jobs. After all, they helped me pay my bills. Also, I learned a valuable lesson in humility and appreciate more those people who are making my coffee at Tim's or helping me at Walmart's. Made some friends along the way. They were part of my immigration journey. And I am proud to have worked for them. Just my opinion, though.

I worked at the campus Tim's while I was studying, as well as college tutor at my DLI. Before that, I worked as overnight stocker at Walmart's. I included them all in my personal history. They didn't hurt my PR application. After all, I only included them in my "personal history". Some may say that not including them is not misrepresentation. I respectfully disagree. Just because nobody is looking doesn't mean we can ignore that "stop all the way" sign when driving at an empty street. Again, just my opinion.

It can not be misrepresentation because students tend to work odd jobs while in school. Their main goal is studying and you working is only assumed not implied or mandatory. You can include them if you feel compel to, but working some months as a server while studying is inconsequential.
