Hi All,

I am new to this forum, I dont know is it right place to post my questions. I have question regarding my parents sponsorship. I had applied sponsorship for my parents in June 2010. My parents belongs to India. I have received letter to submit documents. I think it is second stage what they call it normally.

I have following questions. Please help

1. How the Immigration department calculates Income requirement/eligibility for sponsor It is kind of last twelve month criteria? So I had applied in June 2010 how it will be calculated
2. One of my parent is passed away. Still income requirements would be same or it is now changed (means it will be now less one person)?
3. When i will submit papers, what would be next step and how much time it will take
4. My single parent is already in Canada on Super visa.
5. Please advise what i should keep in mind to avoid any delay in this situation

Thanks

Hi there,
Just like you I applied back in october 2010 for my parents and their dependant children. My father passed away last year, and two dependant children are no longer dependant as they have started working.I recieved a letter from CIC last month requesting additionl documents etc...which I sent yesterday. In the forms so I have excluded my father..and two dependant children and now only my mother and 2 other sibling who are under 18 are in the application. So yes the if the number of sponsered persons come down the income requirment also comes down based on the same formula that incom was intitally calculated. ( not sure about exact numbers, my lawyer did it for me) . Once u send the docs the next step is the approval of your sponsorhsip , once it is done, ur file will be sent to ur local visa office...New delhi. U can check time lines for new delhi visa office on cic website..I think it is a good 4 years....or so:(((

Income is based on latest notice of assessment from CRA, so that would be your 2013 income. It will need to meet at least the 2013 minimum LICO for your family size.

Also if you haven't already, you must inform the visa office about passing of one of the parents.

If those 2 kids were Type A dependents at the time you submitted the application, they will ALWAYS be Type A dependents for the entire length of processing, no matter how old they get or if they start working.

The only criteria that would make them no longer dependents, is if they became married or common-law.

Unless they were Type B dependents (over 21 but in full time school) at time of application, and since then have finished school. In this case, they would no longer be dependents.
