Parents Visitor Visa renewal

Is IRCC still issuing a 10-year multiple-entry visitor visa for parents? My parents plan to stay in Canada for less than six months on their visitor visa. Their previous Canadian visitor visa expired along with their passport, and they are now looking to renew it with their new passport details. I would appreciate your response.

Reason for the question because of the following statement:

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has revised its visitor visa policies. As of November 6, 2024, the automatic issuance of 10-year multiple-entry visitor visas has been discontinued. Now, immigration officers assess each application individually to determine whether to grant a single-entry or multiple-entry visa, as well as the appropriate validity period.

There is no such thing as a visa renewal. They are applying for a new TRV. So whether it is issued as multiple-entry will only be known when they receive a response.

Thank you for your response. I appreciate your insights.

Do you have any information regarding changes in the number of multiple-entry visas being issued and whether there has been an increase in the issuance of single-entry visitor visas following the announcement in November 2024?

Additionally, I have heard that there has been a rise in visa refusals recently. Could you confirm if this is accurate and provide any details on the possible reasons for the increase?

There are no stats available. Yes, it is more difficult to be approved and Canada is limiting the number of TRVs. Since your parents had visas and abided by immigration rules then they have a better chance than most.
