Hi everyone, I am a PR of Canada and my brother is on a Study visa. I live with my husband who is also a PR. I want to apply for a visitor visa for my parents. I want them to visit us for 3 to 4 weeks in April. Both my parents are working.
I have 2 questions
1) Do my parents need to have a medical done?
2) Do I need to send an invitation letter to the visa officer or my parents?
What are the chances for getting the tourist vise for 3 to 4 weeks?
Thank you in advance for the reply.

Regards

1) Do my parents need to have a medical done?
No, medicals are not required for TRVs. That being said, if medicals are required, then the visa office will let you know.

2) Do I need to send an invitation letter to the visa officer or my parents?
The invitation letter must be addressed to the visa officer, but you can send/email a scanned version to your parents to include it in the (paper) applications. If you're applying online then it is part of the online application.

You must also include copies of your passport + PR card + your financials (NOA, bank statements, etc.... if you wish to provide them).

What are the chances for getting the tourist vise for 3 to 4 weeks?
It would depend on the purpose of visit + the individual strong ties which your parents are able to demonstrate + their financial situation (not your financial situation)

Hi Bryanna,
Thank you so much for the reply.
Regarding the purpose of visit, I just want them to come and meet us and spend some weeks with us. There is no special occasion. Is that reason enough? or do I have to have some special reason?
Both my parents have permanent jobs (mom has a government job), have their own house and other property and a good bank balance. Are these reasons enough to show the ties to their home country?

Is the online application process faster than paper-based application?

Should they buy the tickets beforehand just to prove that they have the return ticket.? I am not sure if people do that ? just an idea.

They need not have a special reason to visit. They must include a day-by-day tentative plan of what they intend to do.... with expense estimates.... and prove that they have the finances for it + airfare.

I would suggest you go through this forum to see how to present their individual ties well. If you need specific advice then you can post it on here.

Both could take almost the same time for processing.

It is not advisable to buy tickets before visas are issued. You can include provisional flight itineraries + mention that they will book confirmed tickets after their TRVs are issued
