Parents TRV Extension

Hi,

My parents are here in Canada and their 6 months are expiring soon. They hold valid US visa and are planning to visit US for a week. Upon their return, will their status reset to 6 more months or should I still apply for visitor record?

It will reset IF they are allowed entry. They are never guaranteed the full6 months.
