Hi,

I have couple of questions with respect to Parents Supervisa and would like to hear responses from folks who have experienced it:

1. As supervisa allows folks to stay for 2 years in Canada, does the immigration officer look for return air ticket when they land in Canada? Airlines only provide return ticket for 1 year duration only and considering a 2 year stay i'm assuming immigration officers should be fine with a just one way ticket and still stamp the passport to allow for a stay of 2 years?

2. After the completion of the 2 year stay on the Supervisa, what is the minimum amount duration parents have to spend outside canada before coming back to canada and be eligible to stay for another 2 years? Would a weekend trip to US suffice for a fresh entry to canada with allowance of 2 years?

Thanks

Re: Parents Supervisa | Questions on Travel To USA

I have a question for those who know whether a Canada Supervisa allows one to travel as tourist in USA--what would that require?

My mother was petitioned by my Naturalized Canadian citizen brother five years ago and was recently granted the SUPERVISA. I am a US green card holder and thus would like to bring her to visit me too. What would be the requirements needed for her to be able to do this US trip as a Canada supervisa holder? Where can the documents/papers be fixed to expedite the processing?

No - of course it doesn't. Canada and the US are two separate countries.

Your mother will need to apply for a US visitor visa if she wants to visit the US. If you have questions about this process, you should post them to a US immigration forum.

Hi,

My mom got 5 years super visa (from 15th November 2013 to 16th August, 2018) and she got the stump and date that she can stay until 15th November, 2015 at a time. She stayed in Canada for 2 years. She applied to extend her stay (10th October, 2015) and few days after she decided to go back (21st November, 2015) to her home country. Now she wants to come back although I did not receive any decision regarding the extension of her stay in Canada. Can she reenter Canada? She has also bought the health insurance for one year during her application.

I am confused and I don't know what to do. She is old and I don't want that my mom faces any problem during reentering Canada. Please let me know what to do.
Thank you.

The extension application was only good as long as she remained in Canada. Leaving Canada effectively canceled the extension application.

Since she was in Canada for two years, I would recommend she remain outside of Canada for six months before attempting to return for another long visit.
